Plenty at stake in Eastern derby
St. David's defender Aaron Lugo believes that the form book will be thrown out the window when his side face St. George's in the first edition of the Eastern derby at Lords tomorrow.
Both promoted clubs are enjoying a bright start to the campaign with St. David's getting their first win at home over Southampton Rangers last weekend, while St. George's went on the road to get a morale boosting win over FA Cup champions Devonshire Cougars.
While there isn't any animosity between the two clubs, Lugo reckons friendships will be put to the side when the whistle blows.
"The game gives us added incentive to compete, there is no game like St. David's versus St. George's in our eyes, and now that both of us are in the Premier Division it gives it that much more bite," said Lugo.
"It will be a very interesting game that can go either way, we just need to prepare ourselves as best we can.
"It is a special match for not only the players but also the fans and the community of both teams.
"Both sides got three points last weekend against good sides in the top flight so you have to approach each game with the same intensity and competitiveness as the previous one."
The sides appear to be more than adept to playing in the top tier of local football, something that has been shown early on in both of their respective campaigns.
For his St. David's side, Lugo wants them to continue what is being asked of them, knowing each game is crucial in the Premier Division.
"We have to play the game the same each time, the game doesn't change, the opposition do.
"We are still working on our style of play so that we can feel good against any type of team we will face and comfortable in doing that.
"We will look to get the result which will put us close to the top and stay clear of relegation."
Tonight will see the first night game at BAA Field this season when Boulevard host champions Dandy Town, with kick-off scheduled for 9 p.m.
Elsewhere, Devonshire Cougars will be looking to bounce back from their loss in their last outing when they travel to Southampton Oval to face PHC, while North Village welcome winless Southampton Rangers to Bernard Park.
The Somerset Eagles clash with Devonshire Colts has been postponed as Eagles are without four players due to their involvement with the Bermuda Under-20s national team who will be competing in the FIFA World Cup Qualifying Tournament next week.
The decision is in keeping with the Bermuda Football Association's (BFA) policy that allows any team with four or more players representing Bermuda during international or other official events requesting to have their matches postponed.
