Police report a gun was used in a Warwick home invasion

Two men were injured yesterday when attackers entered a Warwick home brandishing a firearm.

Both victims were taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for their injuries, which were not gunshot related. They were later released.

Police said the incident happened shortly after midnight yesterday, when officers responded to a reported burglary at a home in the Ord Road and Cobbs Hill Road area.

When they arrived at the scene, the men said strangers gained access into their home and flashed what appeared to be a firearm.

The culprits assaulted the two men, before making good their escape empty-handed, said a Police spokesperson.

"We want to reassure the community that this was not a random occurrence," the spokesperson added.

Police are appealing for anyone with information about the incident to contact the Somerset Criminal Investigation Unit on 234-1010.
