The final advice Somerset Eagles coach Kenny Thompson offered to teenaged sub Giovan Logie before he entered the fray at White Hill Field yesterday was to "make the most of any chances".

Evidently, the 17-year-old Saltus Grammar school student took his coach's words to heart as he netted a memorable brace that dumped Premier Division Hamilton Parish out of the FA Cup in extra-time.

The son of national cricket coach Gus Logie popped up in the box in the 81st minute to bang in Eagles' last gasp equaliser that cancelled out Irving Burgess' first-half strike.

Logie won a foot race to a loose ball and lashed his effort in the top right-hand corner to send this cup tie into extra time where he sealed Parish's fate with a near post header that left the visitors completely gutted.

"I just want to thank coach Kenny for having faith in me and for giving this opportunity," Logie commented.

"Just before I came onto the pitch Kenny told me there's was still plenty of time remaining in the match and if I had a chance to take it, which I did."

Despite going into the match as the proverbial underdogs Logie said he and his team-mates never doubted their ability to execute a giant-slaying act.

"We were confident going into the match because we knew we could pull it off," he added.

"We have some quality players in our team and we were always confident we could pull it off."

Eagles and Prospect, –3-2 winners over Ireland Rangers yesterday, are now the remaining two First Division clubs in the FA Cup going into the quarterfinal draw.
