Two Cup Match revellers were injured in an altercation at Somerset Cricket Club late on Friday evening.

A disturbance broke out in a section of the bleachers at about 10.10 p.m., according to Police, while an after-match party was taking place.

Officers say one man appeared to be injured but refused medical treatment and would not give his name; the other suffered reportedly minor injuries but refused to make a formal complaint.

Security had been stepped up at the ground, with up to 20 uniformed officers said to have been patrolling in groups of two or three.

Police say inquiries are underway and urge witnesses to call Somerset Police Station on 234-1010 or the main Police number 295-0011.
