A total of BD$131.7 million in notes and coins were in circulation during the Cup Match holiday weekend, according to the Bermuda Monetary Authority (BMA).
The BMA said that amount compared with a total of BD$124.3 million for the same period last year, an increase of 5.95 percent.
The total amount of notes and coins issued to the banks by the BMA between July 1 and July 30 (the traditional pre-Cup Match period) was BD$13.2 million.
Cup Match and Christmas are traditionally time periods when the figures for notes and coin in circulation rise sharply. This seasonal peak is normally reversed shortly after the holiday.
