Supreme Court sentencing for man who robbed neighbour
A man robbed one of his neighbours by threatening to set his "dogs" on him, a court heard.
Paco Fubler, 35, demanded cash from Coolridge Raynor, 59, three times between January 21 and January 27.
Yesterday he admitted three charges of robbery when he appeared at Magistrates' Court.
Crown Counsel Cindy Clarke said Fubler lived on the same street as Mr. Raynor, in Sunset Pass, Pembroke.
On January 21, Fubler greeted him in the street. Later that evening, Mr. Raynor heard a knock on his door and a voice saying, "Uncle".
"He unlocked and opened the door and saw the defendant. When he asked the purpose of his visit, the defendant forcefully entered and asked for money," said Ms Clarke.
"Mr. Raynor said he had no money. The defendant then said he would bring his dogs round. The complainant felt intimidated and fearful of the defendant and handed him a $50 note."
On January 24, Mr. Raynor heard someone again outside his door saying, "Uncle, uncle". Mr. Raynor refused to give Fubler money but he again threatened to send his dogs round.
"The complainant understood he was referring to 'dogs' as his friends," said Ms Clarke.
Feeling intimidated at the defendant's "hostile manner" and threats, he gave him $50.
Fubler responded by saying, "That's the way to do it."
Three days later, Mr. Raynor again heard "Uncle, uncle" outside his front door. "Despite his efforts to keep the defendant out, he forced himself into the premises and demanded $150," said Ms Clarke.
"The complainant refused and he was ordered to sit down. The defendant then put his right hand inside his inner leg, cupping his hand. The complainant feared it was to show he had a weapon and so gave into his demands."
The next time however, the Police were lying in wait for Fubler. He was arrested as he walked towards Mr. Raynor's front door saying, "Uncle, uncle".
Officers found a brown-handled knife in his possession.
Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner committed Fubler to Supreme Court for sentencing.
