BSX dips slightly

The Royal Gazette / Bermuda Stock Exchange (BSX) Index fell below the 5,000 mark last week as financial, insurance and transportation stocks slipped slightly.

The Bermuda Commercial Bank's share price fell $1 over the five days of trading to close on $10. And the Bank of NT Butterfield slipped five cents to $17, as 72,876 shares traded.

Insurers Argus Group Holdings Ltd. and BF&M Ltd. both saw their share prices dip by 50 cents, with Argus ending the week on $15.55 on trading of 5,325 shares, and BF&M closing on $20.25, after 5,900 shares changed hands.

Bermuda Aviation Services Ltd. and Bermuda Container Line Line Ltd. also slipped back slightly. Utilities stocks fared better, as Belco Holdings rose 50 cents to close on $20 and KeyTech Ltd. climbed 75 cents.

The BSX Index ended Friday on 4,980.41, down by 23.65 points (0.47 percent), for the week. Volume was 110,735 and turnover was $1.77 million.

The BSX was closed yesterday for the Bermuda Day holiday.
