Bank hits year low

Butterfield Bank's share price slipped five cents yesterday to slump to its 52-week low of $9.35.The 0.5-percent fall in the bank's stock price was enough to keep The Royal Gazette / Bermuda Stock Exchange (BSX) Index on its downward trend.The index fell 8.74 points (0.27 percent) to close on 3,183 points, its lowest closing price in nearly four years.

The index fell 8.74 points (0.27 percent) to close on 3,183 points, its lowest closing price in nearly four years.
The bank's fall came on the trading of 800 of its shares.
The only other issue to trade yesterday was insurer and pension provider BF&M Ltd., which closed unchanged on $17.50 after 4,000 of its shares changed hands.
The BSX Insurance Index of leading Bermuda-based international insurance companies rose 4.12 points (o.54 percent) to close on 762.02.
