Quiet day of trading

While markets elsewhere in the world were going crazy on the news of the collapse of Lehman Brothers and the merger of Merrill Lynch and Bank of America, the Royal Gazette/Bermuda Stock Exchange marked a quiet day.

The only stock traded was Butterfield Bank, which closed down $0.10 (0.69 percent) at $14.20 after 7,200 shares were traded.

Overall the BSX declined 17.47 to close at 5,382.06.

The Bermuda Insurance Index also fell slightly, down 0.59 percent to close at 970.15.
