Residents of two parishes reported hearing gunshots in the early hours of Sunday.

The shots were heard in the North Shore Road and Bandroom Lane area of Pembroke at 7 a.m. and Ord Road and Dunscombe Road area of Warwick at 6.40 a.m

A Bermuda Police Service spokesman said that officers attended both locations shortly afterwards but found nothing to substantiate the reports.

Arrests and accidents

Police continued high visibility patrols throughout the Island during the long Christmas weekend. Stop and searches were carried out at several locations and arrests made for various offences. From the early hours of Christmas Day until yesterday there were three arrests on suspicion of impaired driving. Police received reports of six damage-only collisions, three road accidents resulting in injury, four stolen vehicles and two burglaries.

Car crash

A woman escaped injury in a car crash in Southampton yesterday.The accident happened in South Road near the junction with Church Road at 12.20 p.m.

A Bermuda Police Service spokesman said: "It appears that a car was travelling east on South Road when the driver, a 41-year-old Southampton woman, lost control. The woman was not injured, however the car was extensively damaged."
