BEPRO gives tips on starting a business

Budding young entrepreneurs will be given a lesson in how to start their own business at Bermuda's Emerging Professionals' (BEPRO) monthly Lunch'N'Learn session at the Chamber of Commerce tomorrow.

The event, which runs from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m., will feature guest speakers Gaylynne Cannonier, owner of Foreign Cargo Ltd., and Jamillah Lodge, business development officer for the Bermuda Small Business Development Corporation (BSBDC). The panellists will answer prepared questions before taking questions from the floor.

Ms Cannonier, who owns the small Hamilton-based business which specialises in unique home decorative furnishings, furniture accents and gift ideas, is a member of the Bermuda Society of Interior Designers.

After working as the manager and buyer of Foreign Cargo for four years, Ms Cannonier seized the chance to take over the business when the previous owners sold it in 2006.

Ms Lodge gives BSBDC clients business development advice and loan guarantee assistance and manages the marketing and communications plan on behalf of the Corporation.

She also oversees the development of a mentorship and youth entrepreneurship programme and has more than 10 years of business experience in the US and Bermuda.

The one-hour session is free to all BEPRO members and costs $10 for non-members.
