Public relations veteran joins Bermuda Heart Foundation

Tina Evans Caines captured the hearts of radio listeners 20 years ago when she was an announcer for the Bermuda Broadcasting Company.

Now she wants to help to heal hearts.

Mrs. Evans Caines has joined the Bermuda Heart Foundation as a community development manager.

She has spent the last 20 years working in the field of public and community relations and has received numerous awards for her work.

She has worked for famous organisations like the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) and the American National Medical Association (NMA).

Mrs. Evans Caines said: "My own family is contending with the consequences of heart disease. Community education and prevention programmes are the ideal way to effectively stem the tide of cardiovascular disease.

"We must be proactive and have community participation if we are going to succeed in changing our behaviours and improving our heart health."
