Tennis Association's Inter-School tournament on Friday.
The round-robin tournament, which is being staged at the Government Tennis Stadium, is for primary and first year middle school students.
It is the first inter-school competition of the year and the official restart of the BLTA School Tennis Initiative Programme.
Fifteen physical education teachers attended a workshop last Friday where they were shown the latest techniques on how to teach tennis to their students.
School co-ordinators will be working with the teachers to enhance the programme.
BLTA president David Lambert said: "Our goal is to introduce tennis to Bermuda's children, register them in programmes and prepare them for local and international competition and collegiate tennis.'' Friday's play will begin at 1.00 p.m.
BOXING BOX Members of Teachers Rugby Club are gearing up to take part in the equally physical sport of boxing.
A number of players, along with other amateur boxers, will be on the 10-fight card at Fight Night 2000 to be held at Number One Shed on Front Street on the evening of March 4.
Organisers are expecting a crowd of 500-600 to attend the event, which it is hoped will also include a women's fight.
Some of those taking part have never fought before so all competitors will wear full head gear to ensure safety. Each bout will consist of three two-minute rounds.
A number of spots are still open, so anyone, male or female, interested in contesting a bout should contact Nir Sadeh on 296-6002.
The card starts at 8.00 p.m., with tickets $15 in advance and $20 at the door.
