Police on patrol on East Broadway Police will be out in force this morning to make sure drivers stick to the rules of the road.

Mobile patrols will be watching drivers from East Broadway to Lane Hill -- a notorious spot known for traffic offences.

A Police spokeswoman said: "This is a notorious spot where motorists disregard the no-turn signs during peak period morning drive-in hours and has netted a significant amount of offenders in the past.

"In keeping with the adopted policy of forewarning and cautioning traffic offenders before prosecution, motorists are strongly advised to adhere to the traffic signs as posted and avoid taking a chance and turning up Lane Hill and being ticketed.'' YOUTHS ATTACK MAN CRM Youths attack man A 30-year-old Sandys Parish man ended up in King Edward VII Memorial Hospital on Monday morning after allegedly being attacked by a gang of youths outside a Paget restaurant.

The man told Police he was returning to his cycle in the Ice Queen's car park at around 3 a.m. and discovered his bike had been knocked over.

He asked several youths standing near it if they knew who was responsible and they allegedly attacked him, knocking him to the ground and punching and kicking him.

A passing woman let him into her car and drove him to safety. He went to hospital and was treated for head and facial injuries.

DEATH CASE DELAYED CTS Death case delayed Legal arguments have delayed the trial of a 47-year-old man accused of causing death by dangerous driving.

Albert Stuart Nisbett will be back in Supreme Court today to face a charge that he caused the death of Antonio Defrias by driving dangerously in Hamilton Parish in May, 1995.

Nisbett, of East Gate Lane, Pembroke, has also been charged with being impaired.

But his trial, due to start yesterday, was adjourned for 24 hours after leading counsel made applications in chambers to Puisne Judge Norma Wade-Miller.

Nisbett is represented by Julian Hall and Charlene Scott appears for the Crown.

ALLEY TO BE PAVED PAR Alley to be paved Pound Alley in St. George's is being transformed into a cobblestone road.

It is the fourth project in a plan by the Corporation of St. George to preserve and enhance the old town.

And it is the first to be funded by private means, with a contribution from the Spurling family.

The St. George's foundation will conduct fund raising for a long-term plan to enhance the "oldest continuously inhabited town of English origin in the western world''.

Mayor Lois Perinchief said in a press release yesterday: "The St. George's Town Heritage Plan is designed to preserve the rich and unique history of St.

George's, while addressing some modern day issues.'' The Pound Alley project will see the removal of asphalt and concrete which will be replaced by specially made "priory'' paving stones that are able to withstand heavy vehicle loads.

TWO CHARGED WITH FIRE CTS Two charged with fire Two homeless men have been charged with stealing more than $70,000 worth of goods and setting a fire which caused some $100,000 worth of damage.

Although John Jefferis, 22, and Arnett Dill, 42, were not required to enter pleas in Magistrates' Court yesterday, Dill still maintained his innocence.

"I do not have any knowledge of these offences,'' he claimed. "These are allegations which I know nothing about. I was not involved.'' The pair allegedly stole items including jewellery, cash, electronics and computer equipment from various stores and offices between December 10, 1997 and January 4, 1998.

The men have also been charged with setting fire to Audio Vision in Sandys Parish between December 10 and 11, last year and damaging alarm wires at some of the places they allegedly burgled.
