Blackburn and Troake continue record spree
competition in the ratings.
Following up the 11 national records she set or re-set over the weekend, Blackburn eclipsed yet another when a Bermuda Select team met overseas swimmers in a series of individual and relay events at the BASA Pool.
And she was joined by Stephen Troake, who shattered his third national mark in four days, and Tamika Williams.
Troake, a Saltus student, knocked a full second off former Commonwealth Games swimmer Stanley Harris' record in the 50-metre backstroke when he clocked a time of 28.33 seconds.
Troake earlier bettered Harris' mark in the 200-metre back after setting a new standard in the 50 metres freestyle.
Williams, who leaves for university overseas in two weeks, now owns the Bermuda record in the 50 metres butterfly. Her time of 30.71 seconds shaved .3 seconds off the old mark.
As for Blackburn, her demoliton of the record book continued when she broke Jenny Smatt's record in the 50 metres breaststroke by a mere .02 seconds, dropping the mark to 33.77 seconds.
But Blackburn, Troake and Williams weren't enough to give Bermuda the title over overseas visitors, who won the fun duel for the first time since 1991, 572 points to 558.
