Continental's Newark flight delayed
more than three hours yesterday after a construction accident cut electricity at Newark's airport on Monday.
"It was three hours and 25 minutes late coming in, basically because the planes didn't get into Newark (on Monday),'' an airline spokeswoman said, adding that the 40 passengers who were scheduled to leave on the outgoing flight were delayed by two hours.
On Monday, Newark Airport -- the 10th-busiest in the US -- was thrown into chaos after construction workers accidentally severed three main power cables.
Some 70 percent of Newark's 1,200 daily flights, including the flight to Bermuda, were cancelled.
"Most of the 35 people on that day's outgoing flight were rerouted through other New York City area airports,'' the spokeswoman said. "Others decided to stay behind and go out (yesterday).
The spokeswoman said 85 passengers were affected on Monday.
