Korean golf sensation confirmed

A spokesman for the Gillette Tour Challenge yesterday confirmed Pak will join the all-star line-up of golf greats for this year's tournament at the Mid Ocean Golf Club.

The 20-year-old native of Korea only began playing golf six years ago and was just an unknown rookie at the beginning of the year. Pak has accumulated a string of records which include being the youngest winner of the US Women's Open, and the first player to achieve her first two wins in major games. She has also won two consecutive majors in seven years, and tied for the lowest hit in LPGA. Also recently confirmed for the September 29 event are Donna Andrews, Annika Sorenstam, Chris Johnson, and Rosie Jones. The Challenge -- with $1.8 million in prize money -- uses eight representatives from each of the PGA, LPGA, and Senior PGA divisions to form mixed three-person teams.

Only one PGA slot remains unfilled.
