KeyTech takes battle against C&W to Internet

The war of words between KeyTech and Cable & Wireless is going online. Effective today, KeyTech has added a subsidiary website to its basic site to address issues arising from Cable & Wireless?s so-far unacceptable bid to purchase KeyTech.

The new sub-site can be accessed via the regular KeyTech website by logging on to www.keytech.bm and clicking ?C&W ? KeyTech Proposal Update?.

The sub-site is designed to provide concise factual updates on the C&W proposal to acquire KeyTech Ltd.

?Our priority through this process is to be able to provide useful background information and current developments to our employees, shareholders and any other interested party,? said Sheila Lines, chief executive officer of KeyTech.

?This approach provides helpful and correct information, reduces speculation and presents the company?s perspective.?

Initially, the sub-site will include a situation overview, recent news items, an investor centre, a regulatory summary and an opportunity to send questions or concerns directly to the chief executive officer.

?Stakeholders want timely, current and correct information from us,? said Ona Fletcher, director of corporate communications for KeyTech.

?Establishing a sub-site is a key management communications strategy to keep stakeholders conveniently informed. This sub-site will be used for any serious issue facing the company.?

A team of designers and writers, all of whom worked with KeyTech?s corporate communications department and the company?s legal counsel, created the KeyTech sub-site. Local graphic designer, Craig Ferguson of ?thefoundation?, collaborated with in-house IT personnel.

There have been no other developments this week in Cable & Wireless?s bid for KeyTech. Cable & Wireless has offered what amounts to $15.45 per share, which KeyTech chairman Dr. James King rejected as insufficient.
