"Cable & Wireless Bermuda Ltd must constantly evaluate its operating structure to ensure appropriateness of fit,'' said a statement from the company's corporate communications office yesterday.

"Effective management of costs, increased productivity from its work force and growth in business efficiencies are key to the ongoing success of the business. As a consequence, there is a continuing need to reorganise, consolidate and streamline business functions.'' The statement said that as a result, five management positions were made redundant. It is believed that four middle managers and one senior manager were affected.
