Twisters still the team to beat^.^.^.
the Bermuda Basketball Association Winter League Men's Division: Trout Twisters (7-0): Appear destined to repeat as champions. As their unbeaten record suggests, Twisters have been the most consistent team in the first half.
Combine balanced scoring and strong team play. Lead the league in scoring with 88.8 points per game average.
Key players: John Leone (19 ppg., third in league); Kit Mueller (17.25 ppg., sixth).
Dream Team (6-1): Have lived up to their monicker for the most part, with the only blemish being a loss to Twisters.
Included in their wins in the first half was a dramatic win over Fenton's Drive, as they converted a three point shot at the buzzer.
Key players: Mike Robinson (17.75 ppg., fifth); Bradly Barton (13.33 ppg., 12th); Dwight Richards (13.33 ppg., 12th).
Bank of Bermuda (6-2): Obvious believers in the adage that defence wins championships, as they lead the league in that category, allowing opponents a miserly 50.80 points per game.
Also have a high octane offence, averaging 73.00 points per game, fourth best in the league.
Key players: Simon Onabowale (19.2 ppg, second); Al Patterson (16.2 ppg, seventh).
Fenton's Drive (5-2): Surprise team of the season. Expected to be the whipping boys of the division, Drive have instead emerged as a side to be reckoned with.
Combine a free-scoring offence with stingy defence, which usually spells trouble for opponents.
Key player: Lou Matthews (18 ppg., third).
Young Guns (3-3): A major disappointment. Champions two years ago, Guns have fallen on hard times, as their .500 record suggests.
Guard Kevin Stovell still among the league's best, but he lacks an adequate supporting cast.
The loss of proven veterans Ijumo Hayward and Derek Hurdle to school abroad has been catastrophic.
Key players: Kevin Stovell (14 ppg., 10th); Roderick Spencer (14 ppg., 10th).
Kempe & Whittle (1-4): No offence, no defence, no success.
Need help in all areas, but none appears forthcoming.
Leading scorer Steve Jones the lone bright spot in an otherwise dreary season.
Key player: Steve Jones (15.75 ppg., eighth).
The Zone (1-5): A young side lacking experience.
Won the B Division during the summer, but are finding the going tough among the `big boys of winter', despite the presence of league leading scorer Alan Bean.
Key player: Alan Bean (29.25 ppg, first).
Bermuda College (0-6): Similar story to The Zone.
Competed well in the B Division over the summer, but have not yet been able to create a niche in the higher league.
Key players: None.
