Airline offers lower fares for winter
Residents will be able to travel round-trip to Atlanta or Boston for less than $300.
Delta Air Lines yesterday announced its worldwide winter sale fares for travel throughout the US -- including Alaska and Hawaii, Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean, Europe, Russia, and Asia.
While prices will vary according to destinations, basic fares from Bermuda to Delta's US hub -- Atlanta -- will range from $195 to $222 and from $140 to $171 to Boston.
The above prices do not include taxes and vary depending upon whether travel takes place on weekdays or weekends.
The fares, which became effective yesterday, also apply to flights to Bermuda.
Fares for travel in Canada and the US -- not including Florida and Hawaii -- range from $153 to $358 round trip, while sale fares to Florida range from $198 to $388 round trip.
And fares to Hawaii and the Caribbean feature discounts of up to 40 percent off the normal excursion fares.
The sale fares apply to travel from January 6 to March 15, except to Florida, Hawaii, Bermuda, and the Caribbean which allow travel from January 6 through February 12.
All tickets must be purchased by January 13.
Delta general manager Jackie Zuill said travel to Hawaii, Nassau, Bermuda, San Juan, and the US Virgin Islands required a three-day minimum stay. Seats are also limited and certain blackout dates may apply during some special events and holiday periods.
The fares are also non-refundable. But passengers may make changes at a $50 administrative service charge.
Those planning to take advantage of the special fares to Mexico, Europe, Russia, and Asia -- not including Japan -- must start travel between January 13 and March 15. All travel must be completed by March 14 for Ireland and March 19 for other destinations.
Tickets must be purchased no later than January 8.
The fares are non-refundable and require a Saturday-night stay. There is no maximum stay, except for travel to Mexico which has a 60-day maximum stay and Korea which has a 30-day maximum stay.
Passengers, however, can make changes at a $150 administrative service charge, except to Mexico which requires a $50 service charge and Korea which has a $75 charge.
