Next week's course, which runs from Monday through to Friday, is for the BFA `C' coaching licence and is appropriate for those involved in the coaching of players aged 12 and upwards. The cost is $25.

Next month, there will follow two courses run in conjunction with the United States Soccer Federation.

On September 5 and 6, Dr. Tom Fleck of the USSF coaching staff will direct the course for the BFA/USSF Youth Coaching Certification, appropriate for coaches of players aged five to 12. The course costs $20.

USSF goalkeeping coach Gwynne Williams, a former resident of Bermuda and local player, will then direct a one-day specialist course on Saturday, September 15 for the National Soccer Coaches Association of America/USSF Goalkeeper's Coaching Licence, cost $20.

The highest level course will be held in two stages in November 20-23. The first stage of the $45 BFA `B' Licence course will run from November 20-23, with the second stage from November 27-29.

The qualification is appropriate for coaches of players 12 and upwards and serves to prepare coaches for higher certification with the USSF or the English FA. Candidates must have passed the BFA `C' Licence course or something similar.

Application forms for all the courses are available from the BFA offices on Cedar Avenue, Hamilton. The BFA can be contacted on 295-2199.

BTFA LAUNCH NEW SERIES ATH BTFA launch new series Bermuda Track and Field Association are set to launch the Tri Series 2000 competition, involving junior and senior athletes competing in cross-country, road running and track and field.

Participants will be required to compete in a minimum of three of five pre-selected races to qualify for prizes, including the Athlete of the Year award.

The series gets underway tomorrow with the opening cross-country event of the season at the Arboretum, starting at 6.00 p.m.

Distances for the series range from 100 metres to five miles for juniors and 100 metres to 26 miles for seniors, with points awarded to all finishers based on position in each event.

The male and female with the highest points total at the end of the series will be crwoned Athlete of the Year.
