Bermuda eliminated

CAC Games in November short-circuited after suffering their sixth straight defeat in Venezuela yesterday.

Bermuda went into the qualifying tournament needing to place in the top six of 14 nations but have been soundly outclassed from the outset, having only held the lead on two occasions.

The first was in the fourth match against El Salvador, which resulted in a 3-1 loss, and the second was yesterday afternoon when they led Colombia 5-3 before going down 12-6.

Other than those two matches, Bermuda have been out of it, losing 12-1 to traditional powers Cuba and 9-1 to hosts Venezuela on Saturday's opening day.

That was followed by a 7-1 loss to Puerto Rico and the El Salvador match on Sunday.

In their first game yesterday, the 10-run mercy rule was put into effect against Guatemala in a 10-0 defeat in five innings. Then, against Colombia, their best offensive showing went for nought.

Bermuda play former Caribbean rivals Belize today, Netherlands Antilles tomorrow and Mexico on Thursday.
