Just before noon on Sunday, Police were called to a report of a stabbing outside the Spinning Wheel nightclub.

Police spokeswoman Evelyn James Barnett said: "After checking the area nothing was seen, but a second check revealed a large crowd gathered at the junction of Court Street and Elliott Street.

"A 29-year-old Devonshire man was discovered lying in the road with a stab wound to his upper back. An ambulance was summoned and the man was taken to hospital.'' She added: "Apparently the episode was the end result of a dispute involving the victim's girlfriend and another man who allegedly assaulted her.
