Ten platoons will battle it out in a competition to test their skills.

Tests will include rifle shooting and powering around a gruelling assault course.

The young soldiers will also try their hand at simulated shooting on a hi-tech video machine, recently installed at Warwick Camp.

In addition, they will be judged on their handling of vehicle check-points.

Regiment adjutant Capt. Henry Simpson said the contest would run from 8 a.m.

to 5 p.m.

"We like to be able to do it every year. There will be a presentation to the best platoon,'' he said.

Capt. Simpson said the competition would help put young soldiers through their paces before a big November 26-28 military exercise.
