Commissioner Mr. Lennett (Lennie) Edwards has revealed.

A local committee, set up to look at recommendations made by Judge Stephen Tumim about Police, is scheduled to present its findings to Mr. Edwards before November.

And a senior official or Police advisor from the Foreign and Commonwealth Office is expected to arrive on the Island by mid-November to help implement the changes.

"We're going to see some changes that we've never seen before,'' said Mr.

Edwards who became Commissioner some 14 months ago.

"I think the public and Police themselves demand it.'' While Mr. Edwards would not reveal the changes he expected to come about, he said: "The Tumim committee have been working their butts off and they are expected to soon report to me about their findings based on some of the suggestions made by Judge Tumim.

"I've been working very closely from the early part of the year to have an overseas advisor come here to look at the Police Force and restructuring.'' Mr. Edwards said he and Deputy Commissioner Mr. Alex Forbes had met with the advisor at different times overseas.

But he added: "We have not had a visit (from an overseas Police advisor) in four years. I feel it is overdue and I welcome it, especially on the heels of the Tumim Committee report.''
