Hood double their success
Commercial Knock-out Cup.
Already possessing the Group A league title, Hood doubled their success when they came from behind to defeat North Village Rams 2-1 in a hard-fought contest.
Former Bermuda national squad player Wendell Baxter stunned the league champions when he scored with the match barely five minutes old. Hood were back on level terms three minutes later when Andy McLaughlin produced a strike of his own.
The teams battled to a standstill for the next hour, before Tim Perry finally settled matters, netting in the 72nd minute.
Deposed as champions by Hood, BAA Wanderers gained a measure of respect in seizing a 2-0 triumph over Island Rangers in the Commercial A League Cup final, but paid a price in doing so.
While winning, the Wanderers lost a key member when Andy Powell suffered a broken leg during a tussle with Rangers' goalkeeper Tyrone Berkeley.
The pair got tangled as each vied for possession of a loose ball.
Eric Jones assured victory for Wanderers with a goal in each half.
Meanwhile, in a high-scoring affair, Lobster Pot captured the Commercial B League Cup when they beat St. George's All-Stars 4-2 during an intense final.
Pot sprinted to an early 2-0 lead in the first half through goals from Jope Barbosa and Dominic Critchley, as All-Stars were slow getting off the mark.
However, the east enders managed to pull a goal back when Kenny Pearman notched the first of his two goals, heading home from a corner kick.
It was Pearman again striking the equaliser moments after the interval, again using his head to score and also as a result of a corner.
Still, the fitness of Pot would ultimately prevail over the more experienced, but weary All-Stars as they managed to score twice to put things out of reach.
Tony Smith netted what ended up as the winner with a header and it was left to Barbosa to close out the scoring with a 35-yard rocket.
