Waste management officials are hoping to encourage as many residents as possible to think "Green''.

Schools have had letters and posters sent to them, and all students will eventually receive a visit from "Loop'', the recycling bluebird mascot.

Recycling posters have also been distributed to supermarkets and sports clubs, and are expected to be delivered to churches too.

Supermarkets and drugstores have been sent display items offering advice on how to dispose of batteries and what to place in blue recycling bags.

Officials are also planning a publicity offensive at the Earth Day celebration which takes place at Pearman Watlington next month.
