community of Bermuda. We have realised that with the growing demand of our services, this uncertain source of financing cannot be solely relied upon for the future.

In this connection we conducted a feasibility study to test the support P.A.L.S. has within the business community with very positive and encouraging results. The feasibility study was followed in 1997 by a lengthy Strategic Planning Process to develop a strong long term financial plan to ensure that the future of P.A.L.S. is secure.

Part of this plan is to diversify our sources of funding. We are most grateful to Government for increasing our 1998/99 Annual grant but it is far from sufficient to meet our 1998 needs of $547,000 and we have come to realise that we must now launch our first Annual Appeal Drive and hope that all will contribute towards cancer care in Bermuda so that we may face the new millennium with confidence.
