Video company opens
Mall on Reid Street, offers a wide range of video services, said the business' manager.
The new business specialised in videotaping, tape duplication, foreign conversion, tape cleaning and repair as well as editing, said Mr. Calvin Simons.
"Our main service is event taping such as seminars, conferences, presentations, school activities, banquets and reunions,'' he said.
"The company's duplication service is useful to organisations needing copies, cam corder owners who wish to minimise wear on heads of VCRs and to people who do not wish to lose valuable tapes due to lending or damage.'' Professional Video also offers foreign conversions to and from major television systems.
"If one has relatives, friends, students overseas or business associates who need to view your tapes, or vice versa, it is first necessary to convert the tape to or from the foreign system,'' he said.
Professional Video will also ship tapes.
"Our most unique service is our tape cleaning and repair service, a must in our extremely humid climate,'' he said. "Many people have valuable tapes that have collected mildew and fungus, and instead of throwing them away, we can now restore them to their original state.
"We can also repair broken or twisted tapes that would probably have been thrown out as well,'' he said.
The company will not, however, duplicate copyrighted tapes for resale, redistribution and/or rental unless prior permission is obtained.
Professional Video can work with all popular tape formats such as VHS, VHS-C, 8mm, HI-8, S-VHS and S-VHS-C, up to six hours in length, the company said in a release.
The business is owned by a group of individual investors, said Mr. Simons. He preferred not disclose the business' principals.
Calvin Simons, left, and Mr. Steven Ingham, are the business' manager and technical consultant respectively.
