Lane, Pembroke, was convicted of assaulting his ex-wife and given a 12-month conditional discharge. He was not convicted, nor was he conditionally discharged. He was bound over to be on good behaviour for one year.

A 37-year-old Pembroke man was yesterday given a year's conditional discharge for assaulting his ex-wife.

Gaven Black, of Border Lane, was convicted of assaulting Maybelline Black, of Cherry Hill Park, Paget.

Magistrate, the Wor. John Judge heard that on April 20, Black went to his ex-wife's home to confront her about the return of some bed sheets.

While there, he banged on her car windows and threatened to kill her.

He also grabbed her by the arms and neck and tried to pull her from the car.

She was able to bite him on the arm, the court heard, but before she could escape Black rolled up his fist and struck her across the head.

Calling the offence "unfortunate and something that happens during a difficult period'', Mr. Judge handed down the conditional discharge.

Sgt. Earl Kirby, prosecuting, and lawyer Mrs. Georgia Marshall, defending offered no objections to the sentence.

"I'm glad it's all over,'' Mr. Judge said to Black, "as best you can, get on with your life and bury the past.''
