The number of visitors arriving between January 1 and August 30 jumped to 387,691 -- 10.7 percent up on last year.

Air arrivals rose 9.3 percent from 256,303 to 280,218.

And visitors coming by cruise ship went up 14.8 percent from 93,306 to 107,101.

Last week, August 23-29, saw a 12.6 percent rise in arrivals.

Some 16,355 people came here in the week, 1,829 more than last year's figure of 14,526.

The air passengers' tally soared by 20 percent to 10,606.

Cruise ships again were fully booked, with occupancy levels exceeding 100 percent.

Horizon and Meridian led the way with respective levels of 118.17 and 114.55.

Dreamward was third with 108.81, while the Song of America had a level of 103.26.
