young Warwick man found out yesterday in Magistrates' Court.

Insp. Peter Duffy, prosecuting, told the court that 21-year-old Malik Hayward shouted offensive words at two officers on June 9 while they were patrolling Horseshoe Road, Southampton.

Although he received a warning from them, the Spice Hill Road resident resumed yelling obscenities at the officers when they began to drive away. "I had been drinking and I was under a lot of stress at the time,'' Hayward explained. "I'm very sorry -- it won't happen again.'' Magistrate the Wor. John Judge fined Hayward $200.

A couple of leftover spliffs cost Dale Patrick Russell $100.

And Russell, 38, of Cedar Hill Warwick, was also fined $100 for possession of a wooden pipe used for smoking controlled drugs.

Police had raided Russell's home in June and found two partly made cigarettes and the pipe. It contained 0.13 grams of cannabis and the pipe had traces of cannabis resin.

When confronted with the drugs Russell said they were "just leftover spliffs.''
