They were beaten by the Cespedes team from Mexico who yesterday were scheduled to meet the strong Ekeblad team in the semi-finals.
The other semi-final pitted two powerful teams captained by Rosenkranz and Piltch.
The Piltch team features the same four players who captured last year's title.
In the second session of the Flighted Open pairs there were come from behind victories in all three flights.
In Flight A, George Rosenkranz, playing with Mike Passell, pipped his wife Edith Rosenkranz and Eddie Wold to win the event with local pair Alan Douglas and Charles Vaucrosson moving into third after a big second session.
In Flight B, the local pair of Jack Rhind and David Cordon swapped places with overnight leaders Mary Fran Grile and Rose Harris to win their event. And in Flight C two local pairs battled it out with John Hoskins and Malcolm Simmons just getting the better of last year's winners David and Sally Sykes.
The featured afternoon event on Thursday was the A.S.Cooper's pairs won by Simon Reade and Jason Hackett from England with William and Molly Murphy from California finishing second.
