workers still employed there, union leader Mr. Ottiwell Simmons MP said yesterday.

The Bermuda Industrial Union president said: "Union membership at Club Med, who are there as security, have complained to us that the management have not given them their wage increases, negotiated by the BIU, for the past two years.

"We've been in contact with Club Med for about 18 months. They seem to be a bit elusive.'' The union had contacted Miami, New York and Paris in a bid to chase managers down, he said.

"The last I heard they wanted to see us concerning a takeover of Club Med or something.'' Government was letting Club Med hold a valuable piece of East End real estate when management did not look after ordinary Bermudians, he said.

He wondered whether the company was paying its rent for the land and its contributions to workers' benefits.

"Club Med should not be down there cheating its employees and cheating Government and we need to know what's going on.''
