Under Section 1 of The Road Traffic Amendment Act of 1992, the limit has been lowered to 80 milligrams of alcohol per 100 millilitres of blood.

The law applies to persons who attempt to drive, are driving, or have care and control of a motor vehicle.

Motorists who normally take such risks should consider drinking less or not at all before operating their vehicle.

The minimum penalty for a drunk-driving conviction is a $400 fine and 12 months disqualification.
