victory on the final day of the Bermuda Junior Golf Association's Fecchio Cup at Belmont.

The blustery conditions failed to dent the resolve of the young golfer, who fired a powerful 73 for a 227 total in grabbing the coveted title.

Overnight leader Michael Sims faltered badly in the adverse weather, falling to fourth overall at 235 after ballooning to 82. Second was Andrew Trott at 233 (79), while David James was third on 234 (79).

In the 13-14 age group Neil Fenton emerged as champion following a final day 90 that gave him a 268 total and six shot advantage over second placed Colin Brown. Brown carded 94 on the day for a overall 274 score, while C.Smith was third at 279 after a 92.

Aaron James captured the 12 and under section by a whopping 14 strokes, his 84 yesterday making for a 54-hole total of 240. Fraser Hunt's 254 total allowed him to clinch the runner-up spot.

On the girls side, Lindsey Sims was rewarded for her consistency throughout the event, her 272 giving her victory by 19 strokes over Jennifer Spurling.

All players are to report to Riddell's Bay at 8.30 a.m. on Wednesday for the start of the matchplay championships.
