Sims remains in contention
Regionals at Rhode Island Country Club in Providence yesterday, but is still in contention going into today's final round.
Sims, who was tied for first place with two other players after his two-under-par 69 on Thursday, found the going a little tougher yesterday as he could only manage one birdie in his four-over-par 75 which also contained five bogeys. The round left Sims two-over-par for the tournament and still in the top 10 though his exact position had not been determined by the time he left the course.
"He feels comfortable with his game but he struggled a little bit today,'' said Sims' mother, Carol last night.
Matt Kuchar of Georgia Tech is leading on two-under-par.
Sims is part of a Rhode Island University team that is aiming for a top 10 finish which would qualify them for the NCAA finals.
