Matthews MVP
Butterfield Mile six years ago has added another first to her long list of athletic accomplishments.
Seventeen year old Suella Matthews of Warwick, continues to excel on the hockey field, having led her school, Albert College in Belleville, Ontario to their best season in their history.
The team won 12 games and tied two to win the Independent Schools Athletic Association Provincial Championship for Ontario. As captain and leading goal scorer, Matthews was awarded the Most Outstanding Player award for the third year in a row.
According to Albert College coach, Jane Acton, Matthews is a team player whose skill, confidence and leadership contributed to Albert's success.
Matthews is a recipient of the Frederick Sydney Smith Scholarship. She was recently named to the Headmaster's Outstanding Effort List for the third consecutive year in recognition of her outstanding academic achievements.
Suella is the daughter of Tom and Heather Matthews.
