Four Star Pizza hit by staff walkout
with management over wages and the attitudes of a foreign manager.
The take-away shop in Angle Street was closed at 8 p.m. after around ten staff refused to work.
One disgruntled worker claimed Bermudian managers were paid $380 a week, while overseas managers with less than two years experience were getting $700.
Staff last night were waiting to present a petition to Four Star boss Marico Thomas.
One worker, who asked not to be named, told The Royal Gazette : "We were just fed up of the foreign staff coming in and taking over and it all built up tonight.
"There is one manager who really ticked us off. He talks to us unprofessionally and treats us like dirt and does not get punished for things that we get punished for.
"We've got a lot of issues with the management and a lot of people are putting in a lot of hours. Its a real mess.'' A spokesman at the Hamilton Four Star said it was closed for "technical reasons'' and referred calls to Mr. Thomas.
Mr. Thomas did not return a pager message to The Royal Gazette last night.
