Motorbike anti-theft chips available today
The new Micro Track system, which can be fitted with a chip that holds details about the owner and the bike, will be available.
Between 10 a.m. and noon bike owners can take their vehicles to the Police Operations Compound at Prospect to be fitted with the chips.
Colonial Insurance, the Police, and Micro Track Systems combined to offer the chips on the Island.
The tiny chip is hidden in the bike by Micro Track and can be detected by a hand-held device which transmits a number back to a central Police computer storing information.
It will cost bike owners $25 to have the chip installed and $10 a year to keep the information in the database.
Police spokesman P.c. Gary Venning said installation will take place every Saturday between 10 a.m. and noon at Prospect.
