Kyle Robinson, son of Richard Robinson of Somerset and the grandson of former Heron Bay headmistress Gaynell Robinson, is showing tremendous promise as a 110 metre hurdler.

Now the 26-year-old wants to take that potential onto the ultimate stage... the summer Olympics in Australia.

Robinson, who was born in Toronto in 1973, has a personal best time of 14.10 seconds. He won the 100 metres hurdles at last season's Modesto International Relay.

Injury forced him to miss the Canadian Outdoor Championships last year but he did win the 60 metre hurdles at the Ontario Indoor event in a time of 7.93 seconds. And he was ranked third among all Canadian hurdlers in 1999 before the season-ending injury.

Robinson has been consistent over the last few seasons. He was ranked second in 1998 after emerging as the Ontario 110 metre hurdles champion and placing third at the Canadian Outdoor Championships. That year he was also ranked 10th on the Canadian all-time list.

He was sidelined much of that season due to a bout of pneumonia, but came back to win the silver medal at the CIAU Championships in the 60 metre hurdles.

In 1997 Robinson represented Canada at the Francophone Games in Antanarivo, Madagascar. He won the silver medal at the Canadian Outdoor Championships that year and placed first in his event at the Tubman International Games.

Robinson resides in Surrey, British Colombia where he is employed at the Royal Bank of Canada.
