Two other Bermudians will also be in action today. Michael Way gained a wild card because of a number of no-shows and his reward will be a meeting with Tom Mercer on Stadium Court at 9 a.m.

Upon that match's completion, Donald Evans faces off against Brian Devening.

Hendrik Dreekman, Oliver Gross, Lou Gloria and Roberto Azar are the favourites to fill the four openings to the tournament proper, which begins on Monday, but the draw possesses certifiable darkhorses in Woodruff and Sweden's Niclas Kroon.

The second round of qualifying will begin at 11.30 a.m. today with the final round to start at 10 a.m. tomorrow.

Sunday will also see the beginning of doubles qualifying with an as-yet-undetermined local team due to compete.
