total of $162 out of several residents by pretending to be fisherman Alan Bean's son.

Terrance Orlando Astwood, 31, of Warwick admitted in Magistrates' Court to obtaining money by deception and fraud from five people.

Prosecutor Sgt. Earl Kirby said Astwood's first victim was a St. David's resident. He knocked on the man's door on March 19, told him he was Mr. Bean's son and managed to scam $20 from him, saying it was to buy gas.

Using the same story, Astwood obtained $37 from a St. George's man on March 19, and a total of $90 from two Southampton men on March 25.

In each of the cases the victims knew Mr. Bean but not his son.

On March 18 Astwood went a step further and pretended to be Mr. Bean senior himself. He managed to con $15 out of another Southampton resident.

Astwood confessed to all the crimes when arrested, Sgt. Kirby said, adding that he told Police he used the money to buy alcohol, food and medicine.

Astwood had an extensive seven-page criminal record.

Both Sgt. Kirby and duty counsel Mr. Justin Williams suggested Astwood's "circumstances'' warranted a social inquiry report.

Senior Magistrate the Wor. Will Francis agreed, and ordered Astwood to appear for sentencing on April 30. He bailed him in the sum of $500 plus one surety.
