does it include the January issue of RG Magazine but also a free copy of the 1997 RG Magazine Calendar.
The photo wall calendar includes some of RG's best shots from the past year -- and several that are being published for the first time. The calendar lists all the major Bermudian, UK, US and Canadian public holidays plus the major Christian, Jewish and Muslim religious festivals, and dates of major Bermudian events.
January's RG also include the magazine's third annual Unsung Heroes feature which turns the spotlight on what managing editor Chris Gibbons calls "six ordinary people who do extraordinary things''. He added: "We started the feature in 1995 as a positive way of kicking off the New Year with some good news. Now it's become one of the most talked-about issues of the year.
"The feature simply spotlights six people who represent the hundreds of people who, week in, week out, lend a helping hand in their community or organisation without an ulterior motive or designs of personal reward or glory.
"It's a necessary but unfortunate part of our job in the media that we have to focus a lot on the bad news -- drugs, violence and so on -- that sometimes we forget that good news is important too. There are a lot of people out there trying, in their own small way, to make a difference and their efforts largely go unnoticed. Unsung Heroes lets them know that we and our readers do notice them and appreciate what they're doing.'' Each year the six are selected by RG staff from suggestions by readers. "It's not a competition and there are no prizes,'' stressed Mr. Gibbons. "Neither is it about who raised the most money. We aim to come up with six people who represent a cross-section of backgrounds and experience and who we hope will inspire others to take time out for the people and environment around them.''
