Opposition Leader's brother guilty of using threatening words

Keith Gordon, brother of Opposition Leader Pam Gordon, pleaded guilty in Magistrates' Court last week to using threatening words and damaging a door at Addiction Services on Victoria Street.

The court heard how Gordon entered the offices of Addiction Services on November 20 last year and asked to speak to the former coordinator Bryant Richards.

When told by the secretary, Donna Outerbridge, that Mr. Richards was not available, Gordon asked to speak to whomever was in charge.

He was told that no one was there and became hostile threatening to burn down the building and raging on for approximately 20 minutes.

He also did $280 worth of damage to the door at the offices.

Magistrate Archibald Warner asked Gordon if he had anything to say and Gordon admitted that he had "cursed the woman out'' and made it known that his "hand was itching to come upside'' the woman's head. But he denied threatening to burn the building.

He told Mr. Warner that a woman on the street made insulting remarks about his sister.

Gordon explained that he took great exception to remarks and that the woman who made them had sought refuge in the offices of Addiction Services which is why he entered that building.

Mr. Warner told Gordon that he understood his frustration but he could not behave in such a manner.

He added that Gordon should behave himself and that he did not want to see him in his court again.

Mr. Warner then told Gordon he would give him one last chance and bound him over to keep the peace for 12 months.
