Victories vindicate Mollie the Mule
queen! The nine-year-old has demonstrated she is a class act in any field -- yes, including horses -- by jumping to glory in a gymkhana.
And just to prove it was no fluke she also came away with three ribbons, two in other gymkhanas.
It was sweet success for Mollie who was left down at mouth last summer when she was stopped at the last minute from entering an HMS Malabar horse show.
Organisers controversially claimed some horses were frightened by mules.
"She has now been truly vindicated. She is a very happy mule,'' exclaimed a delighted owner Mrs. Moyra Benbow, of Middle Road, Warwick.
Mollie's chance to mix it with horses occurred last Sunday at a fun show at Hinson Hall in Smith's.
With six-year-old Rachel Roblin in the saddle, Mollie won a ribbon in the "lead rein'' class, quickly becoming the mane attraction.
It was then the turn of Gemma Morrison to grab the reins and guide Mollie to success in the three gymkhanas.
Mrs. Benbow said: "Mollie covered herself in glory, and all those who argued horses would be scared of her were proved wrong.
"None of the horses were frightened. Some of them appeared quite interested in her. She got on well with all of them.'' MOLLIE THE MAGNIFICENT! -- Six-year-old Rachel Roblin, of Middle Road, Southampton, with Mollie the mule after her gymkhana triumph.
