Cougars denied
Devonshire Cougars were 29 minutes away from earning themselves three valuable points, but instead walked away with only one in an entertaining draw at Somerset on Saturday night.
It was Karl Roberts who spoiled their would-be victory in the 61st minute to answer Mark Smith's goal in the fourth minute.
Cougars came out of the blocks fast, applying early pressure and Smith took advantage of this by drilling a shot home past Winslow Williams in the Trojans goal from six yards following a good cross from Wali Salaam.
Somerset nearly equalised two minutes later but a Devonshire defender cleared off the goal line after a fierce shot from Jelani Scott.
In fact Ricardo Brangman, the Cougars keeper, did extremly well to keep them in the game in the first half, dealing with the likes of David Burchall who showed good pace, shots, crosses and skill as he linked up well with Keion Simmons.
Mark Smith showed good control in the 55th minute and might have had another goal, but with just Williams to beat he shot the ball straight into the arms of the goalkeeper.
Trojans' equaliser came from a corner on the right when Andrew Rahman found the head of skipper Karl Roberts who gratefully headed it home from six yards.
Sean Simmons was unlucky to add another in the 80th after the ball simply deflected off his body in front of goal and rolled inches wide of the upright.
