The alarm was sounded when someone pulled an alarm switch on the first floor of the hospital alerting the local fire brigade. A spokesman described the incident as "malicious''.

Firefighters were also called to a brush fire at Aerial View Road, in Devonshire, which started when a resident threw embers from a fireplace and started a small fire.
