An SKB Coatings employee was robbed of the company's $10,000 payroll at gunpoint on Thursday, and then on Friday burglars stole $800 in petty cash.

The payroll has since been recovered and a Sandys man is helping Police with their inquiries.

The victim was Miss Lisa Roberts, daughter of PLP Deputy Leader, Mr. Walter Roberts. She was taking the money to the Bank of Bermuda in Southampton when the robber jumped into her car and threatened her with his gun. He forced her to drive to Long Bay Lane, took the money and fled.

West End Police were able to move quickly after Miss Roberts gave a description and a number of members of the public came forward to help.

Within hours they had recovered the cash and the gun and were questioning a man in connection with the incident.

Police then reported that on Saturday morning staff at SKB Coatings on Middle Road discovered there had been a break-in.

The intruders searched the offices and discovered the petty cash, before escaping.

No-one was available at SKB Coatings to comment yesterday. Detectives are continuing to investigate both incidents.
